OUR STORY

Built by people who saw what was missing — and chose to build something better.

Solara was founded by a team that watched too many families struggle to access compassionate, individualized ABA therapy. Cookie-cutter programs. Long waitlists. At Solara, our providers recognize that every child is unique and focus on nurturing each child’s strengths while supporting their individual needs and development.

From day one, our work has been guided by clear commitments: respect the child first, partner with the family always, and measure success in ways that genuinely matter — communication, confidence, connection, independence. We practice modern, assent-based ABA. And we say no to outdated practices that prioritize compliance over the child’s experience.

Today, Solara serves families across three states with a team of behavior analysts, behavior therapists, and care coordinators who share that founding belief. We’re proud of what we’ve built — and even prouder of the children and families who let us be part of their lives.

DR TIVA KERMODE

FOUNDER & CEO
Dr. Tiva Kermode developed her passion for Applied Behavior Analysis while serving in the Army and pursuing her education in healthcare. During that time, she had the opportunity to observe one of her cousin's ABA therapy sessions and witnessed her cousin speak her first word. That experience profoundly impacted her and inspired a lifelong commitment to helping children and families affected by autism.

Dr. Kermode earned her Master's degree in Applied Behavior Analysis from Arizona State University and became a Board Certified Behavior Analyst. She began her leadership career at Constellation Health Services, where she helped develop and expand school-based ABA programs throughout Connecticut.

She later earned her PhD in Applied Behavior Analysis from The Chicago School and joined Springtide Child Development Center, where she played an instrumental role in developing and expanding autism clinics across Connecticut and Massachusetts.

In 2022, Dr. Kermode founded Pierce ABA with a vision of providing compassionate, individualized, and clinically excellent care for children and families. Under her leadership, Pierce ABA has grown to serve families through clinics in Brookfield and Seymour, while continuing to expand access to high-quality ABA services. Her focus remains on empowering families, supporting meaningful outcomes, and ensuring every child receives care tailored to their unique strengths and needs.
